Eastern Michigan keeps Coppin State winless on road 87-64
YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Karrington Ward scored 23 points and Raven Lee added 21 to lead Eastern Michigan to an 87-64 win over Coppin State on Monday.
Lee also had five assists and six steals for Eastern Michigan (10-2) while Ward blocked six shots.
Sterling Smith had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Coppin State (1-11), which lost its seventh strength and fell to 0-10 on the road. Arnold Fripp and Christian Kessee had 13 points apiece.
Ward and Lee combined for 20 points in the first half as Eastern Michigan opened a 34-24 lead.
Coppin State had 48 rebounds, including 23 on the offensive end, but only shot 29 percent. Eastern Michigan did much better with its 16 offensive boards (out of 47 overall), going 22 of 30 from the foul line and shooting 44.6 percent from the field.
