Pacific uses free throws to top Santa Clara, 64-57
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Pacific had four players reach double-figure scoring and used the free throw line to push past Santa Clara, 64-57 Thursday night.
Pacific got to the free-throw line for 30 attempts and converted 20 while Santa Clara managed just eight attempts.
The Tigers (12-17, 4-13 West Coast) led by 13 with under a minute left in the game. Brandon Clark scored on a layup and, after Jarvis Pugh scored on a layup, converted two free throws to cut the Pacific lead to seven, 60-53. Pugh scored on a second layup after Dulani Robinson hit a pair of free throws to make it 62-55, but Robinson tacked on two more free throws to put the game away.
Eric Thompson and Ray Bowles each scored 11 points to lead Pacific. T.J. Wallace and Gabriel Aguirre each added another 10 points.
Jared Brownridge scored 18 points to lead Santa Clara (12-17, 6-11).
