Lafayette holds on to beat Holy Cross 89-81
EASTON, Pa. -- Dan Trist posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds and led five players in double figures as Lafayette held on to beat Holy Cross 89-81 on Wednesday night.
Seth Hinrichs and Bryce Scott added another 18 points apiece for the Leopards (15-11, 7-8 Patriot League). Nick Lindner had 15 points and Joey Ptasinski 14.
Hinrichs slammed a dunk and sank a 3-pointer midway through the first half to help give Lafayette a 26-17 lead, and the Leopards were up 44-40 at the break.
Ptasinski sank four 3-pointers within three minutes early in the second half to extend the Leopards' lead to 66-54 with 11:12 to play. Holy Cross went on a 20-8 run to come within six points, 87-81, with 14 seconds left but the Leopards held on for the win.
Malcolm Miller led the Crusaders (11-14, 6-9) with 25 points and eight rebounds.
