Lafayette beats Army 92-78 in Patriot League opener
WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Seth Hinrichs scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds as Lafayette beat Army 92-78 in a Patriot League opener on Wednesday.
Hinrichs did it with 8-of-13 shooting from the field. Joey Ptasinski added 18 points and three steals for the Leopards (9-3, 1-0). Dan Trist had 17 points with 11 rebounds and Bryce Scott scored 10 points. The team hit 54.1 percent from the field, 69.6 percent from the line and sank 10 of 17 (58.8 percent) from 3-point territory.
Ptasinski, Scott and Zach Rufer combined for five 3-pointers as part of a 23-6 Lafayette run that put the Leopards up 31-17 midway through the first period. They led 43-33 at the break.
In the second half, Lafayette opened a 20-point advantage, 77-57, on a jumper by Hinrichs with 6:46 to play and cruised to the win.
Larry Toomey led the Black Knights (9-3, 0-1) with 17 points and eight rebounds.
