Olson hot from deep as Denver whips South Dakota 66-48
VERMILLION, S.D. -- Brett Olson hit seven three-pointers and matched his season high with 27 points to lead Denver to a 66-48 win over South Dakota State on Wednesday.
Olson had six 3s and 22 points in the first half when the Pioneers (12-16, 6-9 Summit League), shot 68.2 percent and led 37-30. Denver finished at 64 percent and hit 9 of 18 3-pointers.
Tyler Larson had 13 points for the Coyotes (15-15, 8-7), who made just 7 of 26 shots in the second half and never mounted a charge. They were just 2 of 15 behind the arc for the game.
Olson hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Denver a 22-5 lead barely seven minutes into the game.
Cam Griffin had 10 points and nine rebounds and Cam Delaney 11 points and 3 steals and was one of five Pioneers with three assists.
