IUPUI never trails on way to defeating South Dakota 65-50
INDIANAPOLIS -- DavRon Williams and Mason Archie II combined to score 21 points off the bench as IUPUI, picked to finish last in Summit League, defeated South Dakota 65-50 to remain in the thick of things Saturday.
Williams was perfect from the field (4 of 4) and from the line, sinking 3 of 3 foul shots with seven rebounds and two assists to lead the Jaguars (8-13, 4-3 Summit). Archie hit 4 of 5 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers with two assists and two steals for IUPUI, which shot nearly 59 percent from the floor (27-46).
Archie hit a 3-pointer early, staking the Jaguars to a 12-2 lead, and scored on a layup to make it 20-5 midway through the first half. Williams scored four straight points including a dunk, pushing the lead to 61-41.
Tyler Larson scored 10 to lead the Coyotes (10-11, 4-3), who shot 35 percent.
