FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Mo Evans was 3 of 4 from 3-point range with 16 points and IPFW beat Denver 69-53 on Thursday night.
The Mastodons (8-8, 1-2 Summit League) led 48-32 after a 14-2 run early in the second half. Denver (7-9, 1-2) cut the deficit no closer than 13 points from there.
IPFW took the lead for good after a 22-all tie, closing the first half on a 12-5 run.
Max Landis was also 3 of 4 from 3-point range with 13 points and Joe Reed scored 12. IPFW outrebounded the Pioneers 28-10 and shot 18 of 19 from the free-throw line.
Denver was 12 of 26 from 3-point range and 19 of 39 from the field but only 3 of 4 from the foul line. Marcus Byrd led the Pioneers with 14 points. Brett Olson added 13 points and Jalen Love scored 12.
