Omaha tops Central Arkansas 100-75
RALSTON, Neb. -- CJ Carter and Devin Patterson each scored 22 points on Sunday and Omaha downed Central Arkansas 100-75, handing first-year coach Russ Pennell his second straight loss.
Mike Rostampour scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and the Mavericks outrebounded the Bears 51-25.
Randy Reed scored 10 points for Omaha. Devin Patterson and Carter, who averaged 13.5 points per game last season, each had seven assists.
Mathieu Kamba led Central Arkansas with 18 points, Jordan Howard had 14, Albert Christensson scored 12 and grabbed seven rebounds, and Thatch Unruh scored 11.
Tre'Shawn Thurman's tip-in capped Omaha's 11-0 opening run and the Mavericks never trailed, pulling to a 47-31 halftime lead. Omaha opened the second half with a 7-2 run and continued to roll.
Central Arkansas shot 43.9 percent from the field (25-57) to Omaha's 44.7 percent (34-76), and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc (9-21) to Omaha's 50 percent (11-22).
