OXFORD, Ohio -- Egidijus Mockevicius had 17 points and 12 rebounds, D.J. Balentine scored 19 and Evansville beat Miami of Ohio 69-50 on Wednesday night.
Mockevicius was 7 of 8 from the field and the Aces (2-0) shot 57.1 percent overall while holding Miami (1-1) to 39.6 percent.
Evansville led 44-37 with 10 minutes to go when Adam Wing and Mislav Brzoja made back-to-back 3-pointers. Balentine's layup with 7:58 left capped a quick 8-0 run and the Aces led by no less than 13 from there.
LJ Livingston was 6 of 6 from the field to lead Miami with 12 points, and Geovonie McKnight added 11 on 5-of-14 shooting.
The Aces scored two baskets in the final minute of the first half to take a 26-20 lead into the break. McKnight made 1 of 2 free throws with 14:31 to play to pull the Redhawks within five, but they would get no closer.
