Marist ends 14-game skid with 73-67 win over Fairfield
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Chavaughn Lewis scored 26 points and Marist ended a 14-game losing streak with a 73-67 win over Fairfield on Sunday.
Khallid Hart added 17 points and T.J. Curry 11 for the Red Foxes (2-18, 1-9 Metro-Atlantic).
Hart and Lewis both made 12 free throws, on 13 and 17 attempts, respectively, as Marist finished 37 of 44 from the foul line, including 29 of 34 in the second half.
Fairfield made 9 of 10 free throws in the final 90 second to seal the win.
Lewis has led Marist in scoring in all 10 games since returning from a sprained ankle and surpassed 20 points for the 10th time this season and 37th in his career.
Marcus Gilbert had 20 points, and Mike Kirkland Jr. and Tyler Nelson added 13 each for Fairfield (6-14, 3-6), which was 14 of 18 from the foul line. The Stags led 26-25 at the half.
