Hearst's 27 lifts Quinnipiac past Marist 72-71
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Zaid Hearst scored 27 points and made a go-ahead jumper with 17 seconds left, lifting Quinnipiac to a 72-71 victory over Marist on Sunday.
Ousmane Drame added 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting with 13 rebounds for the Bobcats (9-8, 3-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Samuel Dingba grabbed 10 boards for Quinnipiac, which outrebounded Marist 44-24.
Chavaughn Lewis led Marist (1-17, 0-8) with 20 points while Khallid Hart chipped in 19. The Red Foxes were mostly in control, leading by as much as eight, but couldn't hang on as they lost their 13th straight.
Hearst made a layup, then followed T.J. Curry's 3-pointer with two free throws. Hart tied it up for Marist with a layup with 1:19 left. Evan Conti came up with a steal to set up Hearst's go-ahead jumper.
Eric Truog was fouled attempting a last-second tip-in, but couldn't make both free throws to force overtime.
