JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Desi Washington had 26 points and three other St. Peter's players reached double figures in a 79-67 victory over Marist on Sunday.
Washington made 7 of 10 from the field, including 3 of 6 from long range. Tyler Gaskins had 16 points, and Marvin Dominique and Quadir Welton had 11 apiece for St. Peter's (8-7, 2-2 Metro Atlantic).
Washington scored 13 points and Gaskins 11 to help St. Peter's build a 44-32 halftime lead, and the Peacocks stretched it to 16 points at the 8:56 mark. Marist used a 16-2 run to pull within 64-62 with 2:54 remaining. Washington and Gaskins answered with back-to-back 3s, and the Peacocks made 9 of 10 free throws down the stretch to ice it.
Chavaughn Lewis scored 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting, and Manny Thomas chipped in 11 to lead Marist (1-13, 0-4).
