Laury leads Iona over Indiana State 91-84
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- David Laury scored a career-high 30 points, including 10 of Iona's final 14, to lead the Gaels to a 91-84 victory over Indiana State on Saturday.
With Iona's A.J. English, who came in as the nation's leading scorer at 26.5 points per game, held to eight points on 1-of-11 shooting, Laury turned in his 20th career double-double and third in the last four games by pulling down 11 rebounds. Isaiah Williams added a career-high 27 points and Schadrac Casimir 16.
Trailing 48-42 at halftime, the Gaels (6-3) took a 53-52 lead with 15 minutes left, the first of 11 lead changes in the second half. A 3-pointer by Casimir gave Iona a 77-74 advantage with 5:07 left. Laury scored Iona's next 10 points and Casimir finished it with four free throws to hold off the Sycamores.
Khristian Smith scored 24 points for Indiana State (3-6), which has lost five straight. Brenton Scott added 16, Devonte Brown 15 and Justin Gant 10.
