Sacramento State tops Portland State, 73-60
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Mikh McKinney pumped in 21 points and Sacramento State took over first place in the Big Sky Conference with a 73-60 win over Portland State Saturday night.
With two road games remaining, Sacramento State (19-8, 13-3) is a half-game ahead of Montana (13-4) and a game ahead of Eastern Washington (12-4).
The Hornets scored a pair of field goals in the final minute of the first half to take a 31-27 lead at the break. Iziahiah Sweeney hit a 3-pointer to pull Portland State (14-12, 8-8) even, 49-49 with 8:53 remaining in the game, but the Hornets answered with a 16-3 run to make it 65-52 with 1:28 left.
McKinney was 7 of 15 from the field and 6-for-6 from the line. Dylan Garrity added 15 points and Nick Hornsby added 10 for Sacramento State.
Tiegbe Bamba finished with 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Vikings.
