Idaho hands UC Davis first loss 79-71
MOSCOW, Idaho -- Mike Scott scored 19 points and Idaho handed UC Davis its first defeat 79-71 on Saturday.
Connor Hill added 16 points, Sekou Wiggs 13 and Arkadiy Mkrtychyan 12 for the Vandals (4-3).
Corey Hawkins scored a season-high 33 points, including six 3-pointers, and Josh Ritchart added 14 for the Aggies.
The Aggies (6-1) were bidding to go 7-0 for the first time in school history but Idaho (4-3) maintained its perfect record in the series, now 4-0.
The Vandals trailed 38-30 at halftime after the Aggies shot 56.5 percent and had an eight-rebound edge. In the second half, Idaho held UC Davis to 33.3 percent and ended up with a 35-34 rebounding advantage. For the game, Idaho outscored UC Davis 25-8 off turnovers.
Scott made two free throws to put the Vandals ahead 59-57 and start a 12-3 run that left Idaho up by nine with 1:33 remaining.
