Florida A&M beats Sacred Heart 75-70
LAS VEGAS -- Jamie Adams scored 23 points on Monday as Florida A&M held off Sacred Heart 75-70 in the final day of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.
Adams had two clinching free throws in the final six seconds. Trey Kellum added 15 points and 10 rebounds for FAMU (3-10).
Both teams battled back-and-forth in the second half after FAMU went ahead 25-23 on Kellum's layup 8 seconds before halftime. The Rattlers fell behind 53-49 before going on an 11-0 run to take the lead for good. FAMU made 17 of 19 free throws and had 20 offensive rebounds.
Sacred Heart (2-12) closed to within 70-67 with 38 seconds left, but FAMU made 5 of 6 free throws from there.
Steve Glowiak led the Pioneers with 19 points. Chris Evans had 18 points and De'von Barnett had 14. Phil Gaetano had 10 assists, but also had six turnovers.
