Monmouth runs away from Binghamton for 74-46 win
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Andrew Nicholas scored 13 points as Monmouth cruised to a 74-46 win over Binghamton Saturday night.
Yosef Yacob's conventional three-point play with 3:55 remaining in the first half gave Binghamton (2-8) a 25-21 lead, but Monmouth scored 14 of the half's final 16 points, capped by the third 3-pointer of the half by Nicholas, to take a 35-27 edge into the break.
The Bearcats hit just one field goal, a 3-pointer by Yacob, in the first 11:41 of the second half as Monmouth's lead ballooned to 57-34.
Binghamton, which was paced by Jordan Reed's 13 points, shot 26.1 percent (12 of 46) from the field and 13.6 percent from behind the arc.
Collin Stewart scored 13 points and Josh James added 12 for Monmouth (5-6).
The Hawks committed just seven turnovers and assisted 18 of 28 field goals.
