Ogbe leads Tennessee Tech past E. Tennessee 98-83
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Dennis Ogbe scored 27 points and Tennessee Tech used a dominating performance on the offensive glass to defeat East Tennessee State 98-83 Wednesday afternoon.
The game was originally scheduled Tuesday night but had to be postponed because of an error in scheduling officials. With the unexpected 2 p.m. tipoff fans were given free admission. No attendance was announced.
Ogbe hit 11 of 14 shots and grabbed eight rebounds for the Golden Eagles (4-4). Dwan Caldwell added 16 points, reserve Ladon Carter had 13 and Ty Allen 11.
The key was rebounding. Tennessee Tech had a 45-26 advantage, including 17-5 on the offensive end. East Tennessee shot 51 percent but only had 51 shots while Tech shot 47.6 percent but had 63 attempts.
Free throws made a difference down the stretch. With Caldwell hitting 10 of 11, the Golden Eagles were 32 of 40.
Kinard Gadsen-Gilliard had 20 points for ETSU.
