LMU comes back to beat Marist 76-70
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands -- Anthony Ireland scored 25 points, 18 in the second half, and dished out six assists as LMU beat Marist 76-70 in the Paradise Jam on Saturday.
Marist jumped out to a 20-7 lead and stayed ahead 33-32 at the half. LMU took a 41-40 lead on an Ireland free throw and the Lions would never trail again.
Loyola Marymount (5-1) also got 11 points apiece from Ben Dickinson and Gabe Levin. The Lions trailed by 13 in the first half, but used 60 percent shooting in the second half to get the win. It was Ireland's 33rd 20-plus scoring game of his career. He finished 6 of 10, including 3 of 6 from behind the arc and made 10 of his 11 free throws.
Marist (0-6) shot just 38.2 percent but made 22 of 29 free throws to stay close. Chavaughn Lewis led Marist with 19 points.
