TOWSON, Md. -- Cordell Pope came off the bench to score 23 points, including five 3-pointers, as Division II West Alabama defeated The Citadel 90-77 on Saturday to conclude the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland tournament.
Aaron Cobb scored 19 points and Desmond Raymond finished with 18. The Tigers shot better than 50 percent from the field, went 15 of 21 from the line and shot 44 percent from behind the arc. West Alabama (2-2) beat Abilene Christian on Friday night for its first win over a Division I opponent in 33 years.
Brian White scored all 24 of his points in the second half for the Bulldogs, after shooting 7 of 10 from the floor and 90 percent from the line. The Citadel (3-6) trailed by 23 points at the half, and outscored the Tigers by 10 points in the second. The Bulldogs have lost all six away games this season.
