Jackson State crushes Grambling State 79-59
GRAMBLING, La. -- Javeres Brent scored 23 points as Jackson State crushed Grambling State 79-59 on Saturday night.
Julysses Nobles had 19 points and five assists for the Tigers (10-16, 6-8 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and Derell Taylor added 16 points.
Jackson State hit 60.8 percent from the field overall, 77 percent from the line and 43.8 percent from beyond the arc. They were also able to capitalize on their opponents' missteps, scoring 26 points off of Grambling's 16 turnovers.
Jackson State led 32-29 at the break and went 25-9 to start the second period and lead 57-38 with just under 10 minutes remaining. The Tigers led by as many as 22 on a Brent 3-pointer with 3:18 left, and cruised to the win.
Antwan Scott led Grambling State (3-20, 2-12) with 23 points. The team remains at the bottom of the SWAC.
