San Francisco upends Portland 87-81 in overtime
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Mark Tollefsen scored five of his 22 points in the final 25 seconds of overtime as San Francisco beat Portland 87-81 Saturday night.
Kevin Bailey, who scored 24 points, gave Portland a 69-66 lead on a 3-point basket with 9 seconds left in regulation but Chris Adams answered with a trey of his own to send the game to overtime.
Following a 3-pointer by Bobby Sharp which brought Portland (8-5, 0-1 West Coast Conference) within three, Tollefsen's conventional three-point play extended the San Francisco lead to 83-77. Tollefsen added a pair of free throws with 2 seconds left to complete the scoring.
Avry Holmes scored 15 points while Kruize Pinkins and Matt Glover added 11 apiece for the Dons (8-5, 1-0). Cole Dickerson finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Portland made 10 of 20 3-pointers and committed just five turnovers but converted only 11 of 19 free throws.
