Chattanooga rolls over Elon 84-63
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Z. Mason had 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead Chattanooga over Elon 84-63 on Thursday.
Chattanooga (13-8, 7-0 Southern) won its ninth in a row and shot 45 percent from the field, including 7 of 13 from beyond the arc. Gee McGhee and Ronrico White both added 13 points. The Mocs held a 35-25 rebounding advantage.
Elon (10-10, 3-2 Southern) was led by Sebastian Koch and Luke Eddy with 11 points apiece. Lucas Troutman and Tanner Samson both added 10 points.
Elon scored the first eight points of the game, but Chattanooga's 11-point run -- seven from Mason -- gave Chattanooga its first lead at 15-12. The teams traded the lead a couple of times before the Mocs closed the half on a 17-6 run, including McGhee's trey at the buzzer, to lead 41-32 at the break.
Chattanooga led by as much as 25 in the second half.
