GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Kayel Locke scored 21 points and Kyle Caine added 20 as UNC Greensboro recovered from an 11-point halftime deficit to beat The Citadel 69-65 in overtime on Thursday night.
UNC Greensboro (10-9, 3-1 Southern) trailed throughout the entire second half until Locke hit a layup with 2 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score. Matt Van Scyoc missed a 3-point attempt for the Bulldogs, and the game was sent to overtime.
The Spartans outscored The Citadel 7-2 in the first 1:48 of overtime to take a 5-point lead. A 3-pointer by Van Scyoc cut the difference to a one possession game, but Locke finished with three more points to keep UNC Greensboro ahead.
Ashton Moore scored 21 points for the Bulldogs (4-15, 0-4), and Van Scyoc added 16 points along with 11 rebounds.
Locke and Cain combined for 11 of the final 15 points for the Spartans.
