Chattanooga holds off Samford 90-81
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Ronrico White pumped in a career-high 28 points to lead Chattanooga to a 90-81 win over Samford in a Thursday night conference matchup.
Chattanooga (9-8, 3-0 Southern Conference) took control late in the first half with a 16-5 blast sparked by a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer by Z. Mason, and enjoyed a 48-33 advantage at the break. The Mocs were outscored 48-42 in the second half but held on for the win, hitting 23 of 28 from the foul line after the break.
Mason contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds, his sixth-straight double-double, while Casey Jones added 14 points, Martynas Bareika 12 and Gee McGhee 11 for Chattanooga.
Samford (6-12, 0-3) and Chattanooga both shot 46 percent from the field but the Bulldogs hit just 7 of 25 from beyond the arc.
Isaiah Williams and Tim Williams led Samford with 15 points apiece.
