Ball State Cardinals @ Kent State Golden Flashes
Kent St. rallies in the 2nd to beat Ball St. 86-74
KENT, Ohio -- Darren Goodson came off the bench to score 23 points for Kent State as the Golden Flashes overcame a halftime deficit to edge past Ball State 86-74 on Saturday night.
Ball State led 39-32 at the half, and a Chris Bond 3-pointer and pair of free throws by Zavier Turner put the Cardinals up by 12 points after the break. The momentum shifted, however, after Chris Ortiz scored six straight to spark a 19-2 Golden Flashes run. Ball State went from 13:11 to 9:15 without a basket.
The Cardinals (3-10, 0-2 Mid-American) climbed back within five, but Kent State's hot shooting -- 15 points and only one missed shot -- in the final 5 minutes sealed the outcome.
Mark Alstork led Ball State with 15 points and Majok Majok followed close behind with 14.
The Golden Flashes (10-5, 1-1) broke a 3-game losing streak with their first conference victory.
