Miami (Ohio) holds off Central Michigan 77-70
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Will Sullivan scored 17 points, including the last four points of the game, as Miami (Ohio) held off Central Michigan 77-70 in the Mid-American Conference opener Wednesday.
Geovonie McKnight also scored 17 for the Red Hawks (5-7), a career high, with Will Felder adding 15 and Jaryd Eustace 13, but it was Sullivan who closed the door.
Miami had an 11-point lead with 5:50 to go but the Chippawas (7-6) cut it to 3 on a Chris Fowler layup at 59 seconds. McKnight hit one free throw and Eustace made two before Fowler scored again. Sullivan then took over for the Red Hawks, making one of two foul shots at 39 seconds before two CMU free throws, two at 29 seconds and getting a layup at 15.
Fowler had 22 points and 7 assists for Central Michigan. Blake Hibbitts added 17 points and John Simons had 10 with 9 rebounds.
