Pearson lifts Toledo past Bowling Green 60-58
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Rian Pearson's jumper with 5 seconds to play gave Toledo a 60-58 win over Bowling Green on Thursday night, moving the Rockets into a first-place tie with Western Michigan in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference.
Toledo (22-4, 10-3) opened up a 19-point lead when Julius Brown hit a 3 with 17:13 remaining. Bowling Green then went on a 25-7 run to make it 49-48 with 8:26 to play.
Cameron Black made one of two free throws with 1:39 left, giving BGSU (11-15, 5-8) its first lead, 57-56, since it led 2-0 in the game's opening minutes.
Brown, who finished with 21 points, made a jumper about a minute later before Spencer Parker tied the game at 58 by making the first of two free throws with 12 seconds to go.
Jehvon Clarke missed a potentially game-winning 3 in the final seconds.
Anthony Henderson paced BGSU with 15 points.
