Miami (OH) holds off Akron 65-61
OXFORD, Ohio -- Will Felder and Will Sullivan scored 16 points each as Miami (Ohio) kept Akron at arm's length in the final minute to win 65-61 on Wednesday night.
Akron trailed by 13 with 13:46 to play, but whittled the deficit to eight over the next 3 minutes. The Zips 11-3 run tied the score at 53 with just under 6 minutes to play.
Felder knocked down two jumpers in a row for the RedHawks (11-15, 7-8 Mid-American), and a free throw by Sullivan with 2 seconds left gave Miami a two-point lead. The Zips turned the ball over on their final possession, and Quinten Rollins sank two free throws to end the game.
Rollins finished with nine points, six assists and six steals.
Deji Ibitayo scored 14 points and Demetrius Treadwell added 12 points with 11 rebounds to lead Akron (17-11, 9-6) in its final regular-season road game.
