Akron rallies past Eastern Michigan 52-48
AKRON, Ohio -- Demetrius Treadwell scored 17 points and Nick Harney added 15 as Akron took its first lead of the game with 42 seconds remaining to beat Eastern Michigan 52-48 on Wednesday night.
Akron (15-7, 7-2 Mid-American Conference) trailed by nine points at the half and was still down by the same margin after a dunk by Eastern Michigan's DaShonte Riley with 5:57 left to play. Quincy Diggs responded with a 3-pointer for the Zips to spark a quick 7-0 run that put Akron within two. A three-point play by Carmelo Betancourt tied up the score, and the Zips closed out the game on a 6-2 run in the remaining 42 seconds to edge past Eastern Michigan.
Daylen Harrison and Darell Combs each scored 10 points for the Eagles (12-10, 4-5), who went 2 of 11 from 3-point range and made 18 for 45 from the floor.
