Akron wins fifth straight, tops Miami (Ohio) 59-52
AKRON, Ohio -- Demetrius Treadwell scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Akron topped Miami (Ohio) 59-52 on Wednesday night for its fifth straight victory.
Akron (11-5, 3-0 Mid-American Conference) trailed nearly the entire first half but took the lead early in the second and never fell behind again, leading by as many as 11 with less than 3 1/2 minutes remaining.
Miami (5-9, 1-2) cut the deficit to 55-50 with 1:09 to play but then ultimately couldn't capitalize after Akron turned the ball over and missed a free throw on its next two possessions.
Nick Harney added 11 points and Quincy Diggs had 10 for Akron, which remained undefeated in conference play and held Miami to just 35.2 percent shooting from the field.
Will Felder led Miami with 16 points.
