Morgan State pulls away from Norfolk State 87-70
NORFOLK, Va. -- Justin Black scored 24 points and Anthony Hubbard added 22 more as Morgan State coasted to an 87-70 win over Norfolk State on Saturday night.
Morgan State (5-10, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) carved out an early lead and never lost it, carrying a 42-28 advantage into the break and then continuing to pull away in the second half.
Hubbard and Black led the Bears in rebounds as well, with nine and eight respectively. Ian Chiles contributed 16 points and Blake Bozeman had 12 for Morgan State, which hit 31 of 65 from the field (48 percent) and had nine fewer turnovers in handing Norfolk State its first conference loss.
The Spartans (10-8, 4-1) took their only lead of the game when Brandon Goode hit the opening bucket.
Pendarvis Williams led Norfolk State with 16 points and Malcolm Hawkins had 15.
