PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Hakeem Baxter scored 22 points and led the way in the second half when Maryland-Eastern Shore pulled away for a 78-71 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday night.
Trailing by five points at the half, Mount St. Mary's (0-5) tied the game twice in the second half, the last time with 7:07 remaining after Julian Norfleet scored seven straight points to knot the score at 54.
That's when Baxter took over, scoring 14 of the Hawks' next 24 points to end the game. Seven of his final 14 points came at the line where he finished 12 of 15.
Troy Snyder added 13 points for the Hawks (2-2) and Louis Bell 12.
Norfleet, coming off a career-high 28 points in his last game, led the Mountaineers with 24 points, with Sam Prescott adding 17 and Rashad Whack 11.
