Md-Eastern Shore runs away from Salisbury 95-55
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- KyRee Jones scored 33 points to lead Maryland-Eastern Shore to a 95-55 win over Salisbury on Tuesday night.
The Hawks (1-1) opened the game with a 16-2 run and, following a Charlie Waters 3-pointer, went on another 9-0 spurt to open a 20-point lead with 10:51 remaining in the first half.
During one stretch late in the first half, Salisbury had six turnovers in seven possessions as Eastern Shore pushed the lead to 27. They led 55-19 at halftime.
The Sea Gulls started the second half with a 21-6 run but Jones rattled off 14 points in just under three minutes of action to extend the lead to 41, 86-45.
Hakeem Baxter scored 15 points and grabbed nine boards in the win.
In what was an exhibition game for Salisbury, the team shot just 31.7 percent from the field. The Sea Gulls will open their regular season Friday night.
