Howard beats Delaware St. 64-62 in overtime
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- James Miller made a layup with 16 seconds left in overtime to give Howard a 64-62 overtime win over Delaware State in the Seventh Annual Big Apple Classic Sunday night.
Prince Okoroh led Howard (3-11, 1-1 MEAC), scoring 21 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Miller finished with 15 points while Soloman Mangham added 12.
Okoroh scored Howard's last three points of regulation, helping to force overtime. He also scored four of his team's six points in the extra period.
Delaware State (2-8, 0-2) had a chance to win at the end of regulation and overtime. Albert Thomas missed his layup in regulation, and Casey Walker missed a 3-pointer with five seconds left in overtime.
Kendal Williams led the Hornets with 19 points and six rebounds. Kendall Gray added 11 points and six boards.
Delaware State finished a woeful 34.5 percent from the field, including 4 of 19 from long range.
