Pearson scores 30, Toledo rolls past Detroit 91-75
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Rian Pearson poured in 30 points, sank five 3-pointers and hauled in eight rebounds to lead Toledo past Detroit 91-75 Wednesday night.
The Rockets (7-0) used an early 17-0 run ignited by a jumper and a three-point play from Nathan Boothe, and Pearson netted four 3-pointers in the first half to help Toledo coast to a 56-39 advantage at the break. They shot 52.7 percent for the game and made 12 of their 21 3-point attempts.
Pearson was 12 of 16 from the field and a perfect 5 of 5 from beyond the arc. Justin Drummond and Jonathan Williams each had 11 points for the Rockets and Julius Brown had eight with six assists.
Detroit (4-5) held a 40-34 advantage in rebounding, but finished 29 of 68 on field goal attempts. Evan Bruinsma paced the Titans with 25 points and 14 rebounds while Matthew Grant had 10 points.
