Stony Brook holds on to outlast Vermont, 67-64
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Jameel Warney scored 18 points and Anthony Jackson added 16 as Stony Brook made a five-point lead with two minutes, 40 seconds left stand up for a 67-64 win over Vermont Friday night.
Warney dunked and Jackson added a jumper to give Stony Brook a 67-62 lead. Hector Harold hit a jumper to pull the Catamounts within three with 2:23 to play, but neither team managed to score the rest of the way. Harold missed from behind the arc with 16 seconds left and Ethan O'Day missed a last-second 3 for the Catamounts.
Both teams entered the game undefeated in America East Conference play at 5-0.
Warney was 7 of 11 from the field and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Seawolves (14-6, 6-0). Eric McAlister pulled down 10 boards.
Harold and O'Day led Vermont (11-9, 5-1) with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
