BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Sandro Carissimo and Clancy Rugg both scored 13 points to lead Vermont in a 68-38 rout over Albany (NY) on Saturday.
Vermont (8-8, 2-0 America East) got 10 points in support from Ethan O'Day. The Catamounts shot 51 percent from the floor, including 8 of 14 on 3-pointers.
Albany (8-8, 2-1) shot just 30 percent as a team, including a mere 2 of 7 from beyond the arc. Gary Johnson led the Great Danes in scoring with nine points.
Neither team got out of the gate very quickly, but Vermont started to assume control at the end of the first half as it used a 9-0 run, including a Candon Rusin 3-pointer (3 of 6, nine points), to close out the period with a 32-21 lead.
Albany managed just one field goal and one free throw in the first 10:26 of the second half as Vermont amassed an insurmountable advantage.
