Chambers' 27 leads Harvard past Vermont 74-68
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Sophomore Siyani Chambers scored a career-high 27, hitting all six of his 3-pointers, to lead Harvard to a 74-68 win over Vermont Saturday.
Chambers scored 14 points in the last 10 minutes after the Catamounts (4-8) had rallied to take a 48-45 lead behind senior Sandro Carissimo, who scored a career-high 30. His back-to-back 3's put Vermont up 47-45.
Harvard (10-1) won despite shooting 63 percent from the foul line (22-35) and getting out-rebounded 36-28. Kyle Casey added 11 points.
Candon Rusin had 12 points and Clancy Rugg had 10 with 11 rebounds for Vermont, which snagged 11 offensive rebounds.
After Vermont scored the first point of the game, Harvard raced to an 18-5 lead when Chambers hit his second 3. Chambers had 12 at halftime as the Crimson took a 36-31 lead.
Carissimo hit 11 of 19 shots, going 4-6 from 3-point range.
