Binghamton defeats Cornell 89-79
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Marlon Beck scored 27 points to lead Binghamton over host Cornell 89-79 on Wednesday night.
Beck was one of three players for the Bearcats (1-2) to score over 20 points. Nick Madray finished with 23, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and Jordan Reed had 25.
Cornell (0-3) was led by Nolan Cressler who had 19 points and Devin Cherry added 17.
Binghamton took its first lead with 1:53 left in the game off a Beck steal and lay-up to make it 79-77. Cornell couldn't answer and only scored two points in the final 2 minutes.
Cornell took a 13 point lead into halftime after shooting 58 percent. Binghamton was able to hang around with the Big Red thanks to 27 points from the free-throw line compared to nine for Cornell.
It was Binghamton's first win in 14 games dating back to last season. Cornell has lost eight straight.
