San José State Spartans @ Colorado State Rams
Colorado State defeats San Jose State 78-66.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Jon Octeus scored 21 points and Daniel Bejarano added 19 as Colorado State handled San Jose State 78-66 Wednesday night.
Four starters scored in double figures for the Rams (16-14, 7-10 Mountain West) with J.J. Avila adding 15 and Joe De Ciman 10. Avila also dished eight assists and had four of his team's five steals.
The Spartans (7-22, 1-16) were down 14 midway through the second half when they ignited for an 11-1 run. Jaleel Williams fed D.J. Brown for a 3-pointer and then scored two deep shots himself -- one off a Rams turnover and another after snagging the rebound of a Rams miss. The Spartans came as close as 60-56.
But the Rams went 11-0 over the next 4 minutes, held a 37-28 rebounding edge and scored 20 at the line.
Williams led the Spartans, who finish last in their inaugural Mountain West season, with 19 points.
