Nevada tops San Francisco 92-90
SAN FRANCISCO -- Deonte Burton scored 31 points and Nevada narrowly escaped with a 92-90 win over San Francisco on Friday night.
San Francisco's Cody Doolin made two free throws with 42 seconds remaining to pull within one at 90-89. But Nevada's Michael Perez followed with two free throws to extend the lead. Avry Holmes made the first of two free throws with 14 seconds to play, but Nevada secured the rebound. The Wolf Pack's D.J. Fenner missed both free throw tries with 9 seconds remaining, but San Francisco couldn't capitalize.
Perez and Cole Huff added 15 apiece for Nevada (2-1). Burton made four 3's and 11 of 20 overall for the Wolf Pack.
Doolin scored a career-high 33 points and Mark Tollefsen, Matt Glover each added 10 points for the Dons (2-1).
With San Francisco's loss, West Coast Conference teams are now 23-2 to start the year.
