James Madison defeats UNCW 60-55
WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Charles Cooke scored 24 points and James Madison defeated North Carolina-Wilmington 60-55 Saturday night in a Colonial Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Andrey Semenov added 13 points for the Dukes (6-9), who have won three straight games and four of their last five.
No players scored in double figures for the Seahawks (6-10), who have lost five straight and six consecutive CAA openers.
Down by 11 with 14:49 left in the game, UNCW battled back to tie the game at 53 with 5:08 remaining on a basket by Dylan Sherwood. Semenov scored to put JMU back in front with 4:11 left. The teams then went scoreless until Jackson Kent's basket made it 57-53 with 1:35 remaining. UNCW's Craig Ponder and JMU's Cooke both made a pair of free throws, but the Seahawks missed two 3-point tries and Ponder missed two free throws in the final 16 seconds.
