Fouch scores 22, Drexel tops Elon 71-64
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Chris Fouch had 22 points as Drexel topped Elon 71-64 to advance in the opening round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Rutgers on Monday night.
Drexel (2-1) led by 16 with 13:28 to play, but Elon went of a 17-3 run over the next 7:40 to make the score 52-50. The Dragons responded with a 10-2 run over the next 3 minutes and held on for the win.
Damion Lee had 16 points and Tavon Allen added 15. Head coach Bruiser Flint became Drexel's all-time leader in wins with his 214th victory at the school.
Lucas Troutman had 23 points for Elon (2-2), but the Phoenix managed only one offensive rebound all night.
Tomorrow night, Drexel will face the winner of Canisius and Rutgers with the opportunity to advance to the semifinal round in Madison Square Garden.
