Houston Baptist defeats Central Arkansas 99-83
HOUSTON -- Rob Lewis scored a career-high 26 points and Ricmonds Vilde added 18 as Houston Baptist defeated Central Arkansas 99-83 on Saturday night.
The Huskies (5-21, 2-12 Southland Conference) shot an efficient 54.2 percent from the field and had five scorers in double figures. Caleb Crayton finished with 13 points, Colter Lasher had 11 and Dauson Womack had nine with 11 rebounds.
Central Arkansas (6-18, 3-10) went 27 of 75 from the field and 6 of 23 beyond the arc. LaQuentin Miles scored 27 points and Lenell Brown contributed 22.
Houston Baptist led by three at the break, but pushed to a 60-49 lead after a pair of Vilde free throws in the second half. Brown hit two 3-pointers to pull Central Arkansas within three again, but the Huskies countered with a 15-4 run to lead 77-63 with 6:55 remaining.
The win for Houston Baptist snaps a nine-game losing skid.
