New Orleans controls a 78-55 win over Lamar
NEW ORLEANS -- Kevin Hill scored 17 points and Traddarius McPhearson added 16 to lead New Orleans to a decisive 78-55 victory over Lamar on Thursday night.
Hill finished with 12 rebounds and McPhearson hit three 3-pointers. Cory Dixon, the lone Privateer averaging in double figures, finished the night with 12 points and nine rebounds.
New Orleans (5-8, 2/3 Southland) led by four points at the half and continued to stretch its lead, going up by 15 after an 8-1 run with 6:32 left to play.
The Privateers, who rank near the bottom of the league in assist to turnover ratio, finished the night with 19 assists and 14 turnovers.
Donovan Ross scored 13 points to lead the Cardinals (1-16, 0-5). Lamar's only victory of the season came against Savannah State on Nov. 21, and it currently is on a 13-game losing streak.
