Pepperdine defeats Houston Baptist 76-64
MALIBU, Calif. -- Brendan Lane and Stacy Davis combined for 42 points and 21 rebounds to lead Pepperdine to a 76-64 come-from-behind win over Houston Baptist Saturday.
Lane totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double this season. Davis had his second double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Houston Baptist (3-9) had a 34-31 halftime advantage and led most of the second period. The Huskies were ahead 56-52 after Rob Lewis (14 points) hit a 3-point shot with 6:34 remaining in the game. Pepperdine (7-5) came back to tie and took the lead for good 63-62 when Atif Russell made a layup and a free throw at the 3:25 mark. Pepperdine then closed with a 13-2 run for the victory.
The Waves missed all seven 3-point attempts but outscored the Huskies 52-20 in the paint. Pepperdine also controlled the boards, pulling down 41 rebounds to 33 for Houston Baptist.
