Eversley, Cal Poly get past UC Riverside 69-64
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Chris Eversley scored 22 points to lead Cal Poly past UC Riverside 69-64 on Saturday night.
Dave Nwaba and Michael Bolden scored 13 points apiece for Cal Poly (10-16, 6-7 Big West Conference), which remained tied with Cal State Northridge (14-15, 6-7) for fifth place in the BWC.
Bolden hit 4 of 5 3-pointers.
The Mustangs made just 8 of 29 field goals (28 percent) in the first half, but held an 11-2 edge on the offensive glass while taking a 29-26 lead into the break.
Cal Poly made more free throws (27) than UC Riverside attempted (21) while shooting 77 percent from the foul line.
Steven Thornton paced Riverside (8-19, 3-10) with a career-high 21 points -- on 8-of-9 shooting -- while Chris Patton added 14 and eight rebounds. Sam Finley scored 16 points before fouling out.
