Standhardinger, Hawaii race past UC Davis 90-73
DAVIS, Calif. -- Christian Standhardinger had 22 points with 10 rebounds and Isaac Fotu added 20 points to propel Hawaii past UC Davis 90-73 Thursday night.
The Warriors (13-5, 2-2 Big West) erased an early 15-8 deficit, storming ahead with a 20-5 run. UC Davis pulled within four, but a quick 7-0 surge capped by a Keith Shamburger 3-pointer gave Hawaii a 45-34 halftime advantage.
Trailing by 20 in the second half, the Aggies (6-14, 1-4) hit a trio of 3-pointers to fuel a 17-6 run and cut their deficit to nine, but Hawaii countered with two Fotu layups and a Garrett Nevels 3-pointer to make it 80-64 with 4:24 remaining.
The Warriors shot 58.2 percent from the field and had all five starters in double figures. Nevels scored 16, Brandon Spearman had 15 and Shamburger chipped in 14.
Corey Hawkins paced UC Davis with 21 points and Iggy Nujic had 17.
