Canisius defeats St. Peter's 67-63
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Billy Baron scored 25 points as Canisius held on to an early lead to defeat St. Peter's 67-63 Saturday.
Chris Manhertz had 12 points with seven rebounds for the Golden Griffins (9-5). Chris Perez scored 11 points with four rebounds and Zach Lewis came off the bench to add eight points. Canisius hit 44.4 percent from the field and 90 percent from the line.
Perez hit a 3-pointer at 12:00 in the first to cap a 25-3 Canisius run to start the game. The Golden Griffins led by 21 at the break.
The Peacocks (4-9) rallied in the second period with a 34-14 run to come within one point, 57-56, with 4:46 left to play.
Marvin Dominique led the Peacocks with 26 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Desi Washington -- who scored his 1000th career point on a jumper with 9:34 left to play -- added 14 points.
